It's funny, he did the same thing to beanie segal, and Memphis bleek's career
That Cheers album by Obie is a certified classic!!! Absolutely no skips…
I’ve never gotten why 50 is so successful compared to Obie. Yeah, 50 is a good rapper, but his biggest songs are club jams, but Obie’s lyrics, style, and delivery are far better than 50’s stuff. Not knocking 50, but Obie is the best rapper Em has ever signed.
I think what kinda messed Obie up was that he followed Eminem’s method of releasing silly songs for radio that are pretty bad. Got Some Teeth is lame as fuck, but his stuff with Busta, Eminem, Timdaland, and Nate Dogg are top-notch.
Obie had some awesome music
50 had a story tell. He was at war wit real kingpins. He had the movie look to go with the story.
Em had a story and while he had some shock value to make people peek, he also hooked u by holding a mirror up to himself and society. Plus he could go hard too.
Obie was amazing, and helped round out the shady team but nothing for people to personally attach to, other than he was dope. Simply dope lyricists usually have a short run, and less pay like NFL RBs. They get used and tapped out.
Kind of like Eminem being in the spotlight this is why Hittman wasn't really that big. Dre wanted to focus more on Eminem.
Obie hella underated, out of all of eminems surroundings in the shadow's he was the guy i wish they did more with.
Obie slept on
Obie be praising 50 but under his breath hating on him. . . Perhaps that was his problem, focused on the people around him instead of focusing on himself. 50 helps those he works with but his priority is always himself. He could hate on Em because technically he was bigger, sold more albums but instead he hustled and worked on his brand and image. . .Obie did cheers which was a great album but by the time second round came out, his fans had moved on, why. . .not to sure but in the end he just doesn't have the stage presence Curtis Jackson the 3rd has. Real name no gimmicks, a name that was was given by a father who didn't give an F about his children. . .oh no look who crept in the backdoor, it's been seven days the same close. . .50.
Obie Trice insanely overrated, way too much goddamn
Oboe better not than yayo and buck
Obie Trice was nice, he had way more mad skills then 50, music industry does the dirty on talent people. Sorry man you should of exploded instead, getting shot 9 times dont make you talented. Dres beats only carried that man so far
doNt Come dowN oNe oF the dopeSt SoNgS eveR Cuzz
He was supposed to use all the hype around 50 to up his own game, he was lucky to have him close and that was enough for him to work with . He was just not hungry enough…
There is nothing cool about Rosenberg sorry!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
and ja rule would still be selling records
Everybody can't shine at once. Eminem made every white rapper look like a less talented version of himself after he came out. Even MGK was going at Em, but NOBODY considers him better than Em.
… Real Story, no gimmicks.
Obie was weak. If he was any good, he would've rivaled 50 for attention & hype at the time. Facts.
Would Obie Trice have had more success if Eminem hadn't signed 50 Cent?
