While this song is associated with the LGTBQ+ generations and I’m straight I personally adopted the song to transcend even further … I was a very shy introverted and quiet child throughout my teenage years and wouldn’t speak to hardly anyone … a lot of the kids thought I was odd and made fun of me which pushed me even further into my own isolation … even as an adult I’m very quiet and those kids who made fun of me, well they’re grown up too and no different … this song makes me feel good about myself and I will always hold Lady Gaga close to my heart
